Description: The Great Hall located in Winchester, Hampshire was once part of an important royal castle built in 1222 for Henry III. Extensively remodeled and renovated throughout the ages, including after a serious fire in 1303, it served as a court until 1972.

Now fully restored its many features include wrought steel gates, stained-glass windows and round table of King Arthur which hangs on the west wall, or rather a version for King Edward I (1272-1307)

At the back of the Great Hall is a re-creation of a medieval herbarium garden, built in 1986 and named after Queen Eleanor of Provence, the wife of Henry III.

The Great Hall is a great attraction and place to visit in Hampshire, we hope you enjoy your visit.
